Le rituel en son lieu obscur, pratiques du film argentique
Abstract
Following the creation of numerous new spaces for the practice of analog film, young artists (re-)explore in their work the temporality and techniques of the darkroom. By analyzing the work of the American experimental filmmaker Eric Stewart, this paper sheds some light on how a ritual of mourning can transform into a techne and produce a work of art. We finally look at the work of Stan Brakhage in the 1960s and 1970s in order to put these new contemporary shifts into historical perspective.
